THE ASSOCIATION

The West Harbor Pond Watershed Association is a non-profit 501(c)

(3) organization that was founded by a group of homeowners who live along the shores of West Harbor Pond. Since 2009 the WHPWA membership has worked to preserve and protect our beautiful, historic Pond in many ways, including:

  • Monitoring water quality, including measuring dissolved oxygen, salt water intrusion,  fecal coliform levels, duration of ice coverage, and water clarity

  • In 2018 the WHPWA, with the support of the larger Boothbay Harbor community, undertook the Campaign to Save West Harbor Pond to fund the replacement of the 1880 siphon so that West Harbor Pond will continue to be a vibrant ecological jewel on the Boothbay peninsula. The new siphon system was completed in March 2019 and has lived up to its promise, significantly improving the Pond's water quality.
