The West Harbor Pond Watershed Association funds its many activities through membership dues of $15 per year, donations from members and supporters, and other sources of revenue like the annual plant sale and sales of WHPWA merchandise. Because the WHPWA is a 501(c)(3) organization, your dues and contributions are tax-deductible. The activities supported by your dues and generous donations include:

  • Siphon project

  • Water quality monitoring

  • Educational programs, including LakeSmart

  • Social gatherings

  • Donations to the Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program and the Maine Lakes Society

  • Operating expenses

Who is eligible to join?

All individuals, businesses, and nonprofit groups who own property within the West Harbor Pond Geographical Watershed and who support the mission of the WHPWA may become members. Those who do not own property within the Watershed may become associate members.

Join friends and neighbors in a variety of enjoyable activities as we work toward protecting and preserving West Harbor Pond.


Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Join the water testing team

  • Become a certified LakeSmart volunteer

  • Become an invasive plant patroller

  • Join a WHPWA committee

  • Serve on the Board of Directors

  • Host the Annual Meeting or fall potluck supper

Recreational and Social Activities:

  (Suspended in 2020 due to pandemic) 

  • Moonlight paddles (at each full moon during summer and fall)

  • Barbeque (immediately following Annual Meeting in August)

  • Potluck supper (in the fall)
  • Bonfire on the ice (winter)
  • Plant sale (every other June)
